One of our minor victories in the past year was managing to achieve lockers for rotating residents.
Genuinely, one of the lowest hanging fruits to improve resident doctor wellbeing in the theatre-based specialties đź’

It’s changeover day when the doctors start jobs, so here’s a belated reminder of this gem from @drphiliplee1.

The only thing a Consultant should say to the night shift docs is "thanks, go and get some sleep"
Replying to @ShaunLintern
There's a push by some consultants at my trust to make the night team (shift 8.30pm to 9am) stay after the end of their shift to complete jobs for patients admitted overnight. Asking for medical errors, asking for road deaths (some of us commute for over an hour).

Doesn’t feel like 5 years since we had to learn to don PPE, to work in it all day & make it last because supplies were short. People have different opinions about what happened, we all lost so much. I can only say that in 27 years as a doctor it was the worst thing I’ve ever seen

Very good explanation here from Sophy on what’s been going on with the assisted dying bill. Yes, it’s an absolute mess and no way to treat complex legislation when there’s so much as stake. The bill should be withdrawn and a Royal Commission established.
I did something unusual this evening: playing an interview filmed last night that now seems completely out of date. Which is basically breaking all the rules of television and journalism. But there's a reason 👇

I haven't written enough about Scottish marginal tax rates. Here's how it looks - check out that 70% rate between ÂŁ100k and ÂŁ125k. This isn't a special case, or a cherry-picked example. This is the position for *everyone*.
