Why Canada Post? Because if you're in very rural areas good luck getting a private carrier to work - not profitable. That's why it's public and why it shouldn't be asked to turn a profit . We need it #SupportPostalWorkers

A milestone worth celebrating: 49 women are set to serve in the #BCLeg 43rd Parliament, marking the first time in BC's history that more women than men will take their seat in the Legislative Chamber (also a first for a Canadian provincial legislature) #WomensHistoryMonth #BCpoli

Random thought on the #healthcare human #resource crisis: I am starting to worry that no novel payment model will fix the damage caused by a decade of increasing tuition & living costs. #MedEd impovrishes people. It really does.

Now THIS is an unnecessary visit. People should see a doctor if they feel it's required for **medical** reasons, not as some audit function of the company's HR policies
The CMA is calling for the elimination of sick notes for short-term minor illnesses, which could prevent as many as 12.5 million unnecessary health care interactions in a single year. Read more: bit.ly/4fie0zf

"If we can get rid of something that really has no medical benefit to anybody, but does add to the workload that family doctors are experiencing, that's a real win for all of us." Watch Dr. @jossreimer on @CTVNews discuss the need to eliminate sick notes: bit.ly/3BZso0V

THIRTY percent of our 🇨🇦 medical system is already private (accessible only to those w insurance). Completely inane to bog down public system w admin of private system. Unfair to people without insurance, waste of time for everyone else, except for $$$corporations #BCDocsCare
The medical system should not be corporations' HR police. Governments should protect our public healthcare system by prohibiting this abuse of the system. People should only go see a doctor if they feel they need to for **medical** reasons.

Quote “The Quebec government seems ready to pay more money for less comprehensive care in order to provide the illusion of quicker access. But this further erodes the bedrock principle of family medicine, which is that one doctor should be responsible for a dedicated population”

Thoughtful @JAMAInternalMed viewpoint by @BradSpellberg on why hospitals should create a "policy to override policies": jamanetwork.com/journals/jam… Policies are important to standardize processes and procedures and ensure patient safety. But no policy or procedure can anticipate all variations and scenarios that may arise. And in health care, the unpredictable happens every day. Recognizing this, Dr. Spellberg's hospital created a due process mechanism that would allow any hospital policy to be overridden when the override was in the best interest of the patient or staff.
Ever been frustrated by the excuse, “Sorry, it’s against hospital policy” when you needed to do something important to help someone? Well, we solved that. Get your hospital to adopt the Policy to Override Policies! jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…

Health care workers, stop, collaborate and listen to “what matters” to patients, care partners and other staff 💗

ALT Stop Collaborate GIF

How do we create change in our healthcare system? We start with the most basic of questions. What matters to you? #WMTY We ask patients, families, care partners AND staff. And we don’t stop asking. Excited to be at #NACIC24 to listen and learn (and network) and present my digital poster on WMTY: Creating change within our healthcare system: one conversation at a time ❤️

As winter approaches we will see and hear the usual suspects finger-wag at patients with minor conditions they are bad people for attending the ER. In fact: 1) patients define emergencies, not administrators. 2) bed blockage is our problem, not a prescription refill.
