Many books on autism tell you about autism. This book is different it discusses you, how it will change you, how you can choose do things differently, work around gatekeepers, get financial discounts (on council tax for example), access social security and direct payments

Lots of politicians bemoan our current fiscal predicament. None of them take responsibility for the mess they have collectively created over the last few years. Most have the same old tired Brexity ideas. None of them appears to ask WHY

Once again a politician (Mr Hunt in @thetimes) targets anxiety and depression without explaining these are serious mental health issues or illnesses. Couple either with ADHD or autism and you live in a quarry.

The words of experienced experts— remember these people were on power two years ago. Most of the ideas are already in place or have been tried and failed
Replying to @Helen_Whately
1️⃣ Restore the two-child cap 2️⃣ Stop benefits to foreign nationals 3️⃣ End sickness benefits for low level mental health (focus on support instead) 4️⃣ Return to face to face benefit assessments 5️⃣Tighten household benefit cap PLUS back businesses to create real jobs. We’ve identified £23 billion of actual savings & working on more.

We are told disabled people are why we can’t fund defence. Yeah!

Ah - the usual suspects excuse rather than asking why? Why don’t pensioners work? Why do employers prefer abled bodies over disabled people? Why can’t those with invisible disabilities cure themselves through work? Why can’t those receiving tax credits get a better job?
"Who can we tax in order to pay benefits to others?" According to Labour's Welfare Secretary, that's the question that Labour MPs always ask. Whoever's in charge, and whatever the issue, hardworking people are still going to end up worse off. The problem is Labour MPs.

Once again an autistic person is seen as a nuisance and needlessly dies. Every one, especially populist politicians, should read the coroner’s findings. Another needless and totally avoidable death.

Tomorrow’s paper! This is utterly ridiculous! Every bloody day we get the same - Burnham today, Hunt tomorrow. Acting like they can slash the safety net that keeps us all safe willy nilly with invented jobs for suddenly cured conditions under the phantasy work is therapy.

As an unpaid carer I find the yearly brief clap ironic. Every day we are told we are economically inactive despite saving the state £186 billion pa. So spare me the clap, & start looking at the benefit we create for society. Think how many frigates our contribution could make!
🫂 "Supporting carers is a responsibility for everybody." 🫶 The Health Minister has paid tribute to the contribution of unpaid carers this Carers Week 2026. 🔗 More info on support for carers: online.hscni.net/our-work/so… @PatientClient @CarersNI @compharmacyni @CDHN_NI

So @AndyBurnhamGM has joined the populist attack on welfare. It is an easy target as it was in the 1930s. Trouble is no ever bothers with the why. Why are pensioners living in poverty? Why does HMG top up wages with UC? Why can’t disabled people find work?

We need to get out of this mindset that wars are won by soldiers alone. They're won by supply chains, factories and the country behind them. That's the conversation we need to have.

A British drone industry would not be a cost. It would be a renaissance. British kit, designed here, built here, used by our forces and sold to our allies. War has already changed. Britain needs to as well. dailymail.com/debate/article…

They told us we couldn’t afford the railways so they got Beeching to slash them. They told us we didn’t need British industry or the European Union. Now they’re coming for disabled people, making them destitute in the name of “tough choices.” Same old pattern: run down public services and communities, then blame the vulnerable.
The problem isn’t welfare @AndyBurnhamGM It’s extraction. The welfare state is magic self perpetuating. The problem isn’t welfare. The welfare state was one of the greatest engines of prosperity ever created: healthier children, educated workers, security that allowed people to innovate and take risks. The problem is extraction, an economy where wealth flows upwards and away from the communities that create it. A society cannot cut its way to prosperity if its productive foundations are being hollowed out.
