San Diego RB Adam Criter (@AdamCriter) broke out in 2025, earning First Team All-Pioneer Football League honors. The Downers Grove, Illinois native entered the season with no career carries and just one reception, but finished with 921 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. He also added 23 receptions for 136 yards. Saginaw Valley DL Adom LeDuc (@_LeDuc_A) has established himself as one of the premier defensive linemen in the GLIAC, earning First Team All-GLIAC honors for his performance in 2025. The Utica, Michigan native recorded 50 tackles, including 9 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Saginaw Valley is known for fielding tough, physical defenses, and players like LeDuc are a big reason why. SMU had to shut down their program for 2 years because they paid some of their players $50,000 30 years later and a player who gambled $90,000 on HIS OWN TEAM is allowed to play all but 2 regular season games.

This is why conference governance may be the future. The NCAA is vulnerable as a national regulator. Conferences have membership contracts, revenue leverage, championship access, and conduct-detrimental authority. That may be where enforceable rules can actually stick.

1. The Sorsby issue may be a test of whether conferences can do what the NCAA increasingly cannot: enforce rules through membership governance. For the Big 12, the key provision is Bylaws § 3.6 - Sanction of a Member.
