I shouldn't have to say this, but I hear it a lot so...please, beloveds, do not use reading as a punishment. Kiddos should not experience reading as a consequence. Reading should be connected with joy.

My father is an alcoholic and is bipolar. I've been in minimal contact for a couple of mths because a serious boundary was breeched. He texted the other day to tell me that he's going back into intense treatment for mental health and addiction. That was the vest Christmas gift.

He is not a "fun" drunk. Some of the most awful memories of my childhood come from his drinking. However, he was an AMAZING dad when he was sober. He loves me. But I learned that his love for me wasn't enough to keep him sober.

That was hard to understand as a child. But his sobriety is not my responsibility. I could never be good enough or smart enough to compete with mental illness and addiction.

Sunday School at 9:30. Morning service at 11. Sun dinner in the annex then 3:30 service. If I couldn't get a ride home, then evangelistic service at 7. Sat morning choir rehearsal, Wed Bible Study. Then revivals, convocations, and shut ins. Current church, one 75 min service.

It’s crazy when I hear people say a 2 hour church service is too long. Y’all fasho didn’t grow up going to revivals and shut ins 😂😂😂 cuz a 2 hour service is a BREEEEZEEEEE

11 years ago, I was honored by @dcpublicschools as highly effective educator. My career in the district took some twists and turns, but this night, in my pretty gold dress and royal blue pumps, was a highlight.

A few weeks ago, I had to have a sobering conversation w/my mom about the internet and fraud. She had a scary run-in that could have ended a lot differently, but I was able to stop any damage. She's used to being very aware, and this scared her and me. So check on your elders.
