"I lead because…” Every time I hear women in this network answer that question, I am reminded why #WomenLeadingEd exists. In the third video of our #ILead series, @teainfo’s Shay Wise-Garland, Dr. @shannontrejo, Dr. Faviola Cantú of @AldineISD and Dr. @sdenisewatts speak with such clarity about what calls them to this work. Leadership is not one thing. It is service.  Courage. Responsibility. And it is opening doors for others while carrying the weight of the moment in front of you.  I am grateful to Shay, Shannon, Faviola and Denise for sharing their voices and for the powerful progress they are driving for students and communities. Graduate education programs were left out of the new federal "professional degree" definition, and school leaders are raising the alarm. AASA's Valerie Truesdale says the new student loan cap could limit who can afford to lead our schools, especially in rural communities. I’ve long admired @angeladuckw’s ability to take ideas we think we understand, like perseverance, motivation, achievement, and push us to see them with more depth, evidence, and humility. That’s why I’m especially excited to welcome her to tonight’s @WomenLeadingEd  All-Network Session on June 2. She’ll share an inside look at the national research she is leading on cell phones in schools: what these policies mean for student learning, attention, relationships, and well-being. This is one of the most urgent leadership questions facing K-12 right now. And it is exactly the kind of conversation our members are built for: rigorous, practical, and focused on what students need next.
