I’ve long admired @angeladuckw’s ability to take ideas we think we understand, like perseverance, motivation, achievement, and push us to see them with more depth, evidence, and humility. That’s why I’m especially excited to welcome her to tonight’s @WomenLeadingEd  All-Network Session on June 2. She’ll share an inside look at the national research she is leading on cell phones in schools: what these policies mean for student learning, attention, relationships, and well-being. This is one of the most urgent leadership questions facing K-12 right now. And it is exactly the kind of conversation our members are built for: rigorous, practical, and focused on what students need next.

And just like that, Graduation Eleven is in the books! We officially crossed the finish line of this incredible 4-day marathon yesterday at 1:30pm and what a beautiful way to close it out with our award-winning fine arts choice school, George Washington Carver High School. Watching these 148 seniors take the stage tonight was pure magic. They didn't just share their incredible artistic talents with us over the last four years, they proved that creativity and academic excellence go hand in hand. Look at how this remarkable class of 148 finished their high school chapters: • 95% met their College, Career, and Military Readiness standards. • 99% completed their college applications, ready to take their talents to the next level. • They balanced their arts with heavy academics, completing 2,412 dual credit college hours and earning 70 industry certifications. • We have 2 graduates heading to Ivy League universities and 14 graduates attending selective and highly selective universities across the country! • And because of their dedication to their craft and their studies, this class was offered $60,306,316 in scholarships. Day Four, Graduation Ten is in the books, and I am still in absolute awe of the Rose Avalos P-TECH High School Class of 2026. To say these 107 seniors are a powerhouse is an understatement. They have completely redefined what is possible, proving that with focus, dedication, and heart, there are absolutely no limits to what our students can achieve. Look at the historic, mind-blowing legacy this class of 107 is leaving behind: • 100% met their TSI requirements. • 100% earned their College, Career, and Military Readiness status. • 100% completed their college applications—and 100% were accepted! • 100% completed their FAFSA, ensuring their paths forward are secure. • They put in a staggering amount of college work, completing 6,189 dual credit hours, with 85 students earning their Associate Degrees alongside their high school diplomas. • They are stepping out with 36 industry certifications ready to go. • An incredible 23 graduates are heading to Ivy League universities, and 68 are attending selective and highly selective universities across the nation. • We also celebrated 9 students who received full-ride scholarships to the University of Houston-Downtown through our "Grow Your Own" initiative—we can't wait to welcome you back as future teachers in our district! • And because of their historic effort, this class was offered an unbelievable $85,275,827 in scholarships. Students Watching these 691 Falcon seniors fill the arena yesterday was such a powerful moment. This is a class defined by its grit. Look at what our 691 Davis students accomplished: • 92% met their College, Career, and Military Readiness standards. • 87% completed their college applications, keeping their eyes focused on the future. • They pushed themselves to the limit academically, completing an amazing 5,713 dual credit college hours. • They are stepping out into the world ready to lead with 522 industry certifications already in hand. • 64 seniors earned the prestigious Seal of Biliteracy. • And because of their hard work, this class was offered a staggering $117,913,922 in scholarships to back up their dreams. Look at the incredible foundation these 55 graduates built for their futures: • They pushed themselves to earn more than 130 dual credit college hours. • They are graduating with 31 industry certifications already in hand, ready to step right into the workforce. • 85% of the class completed their college applications. • And together, they earned $1,495,500 in scholarship offers to back up their dreams. To give you an idea of just how hard these students have worked, look at what they achieved: • 92% met their College, Career, and Military Readiness standards. • 95% applied to college • 89% submitted their FAFSA/TASFA. • 21 seniors earned the Seal of Biliteracy, honoring their incredible ability in both English and Spanish. • 171 students challenged themselves in dual credit courses, racking up an amazing 2,724 college credit hours before even receiving their high school diplomas. • We also witnessed school history tonight: for the very first time, two of our seniors, Yaromi Lara and Geovanni Reyes, graduated from Lone Star College with their Associate Degrees earlier this month. • Through it all, they never forgot the community that raised them, giving back 3,425 hours of community service. • And thanks to their dedication, this class was offered a breathtaking $195,858,710 in scholarships to help them take their next steps.
