Chilly Water was called the cleanest packaged water in the U.S. for 2025. The independent testing group H2Oscore rated Chilly Water to be the cleanest, purest water in the United States, and 2nd in the world. H2Oscore tested more than 500 brands. Chilly Water was first canned in February of 2025. Stuart Edwards expanded the family business of Carolina Ice which has been around since 1982, and added canning water to their production line. They pull their water from the Black Creek Aquifer, and take what is already called pristine water and run it through a couple of additional filtration systems. They use a converted beer canning machine to put their pristine product in the cans, which they use to avoid the microplastic issues that are a trending topic with plastic water bottles. The name Chilly Water comes from Stuart's brother Lee who died in 2020. Lee was a big Widespread Panic fan who loved the song "Chilly Water", and even named his boat Chilly Water. So the Edwards family including Stuart and Lee's father Thomas Edwards chose the name Chilly Water to honor Lee, and also tie into the Carolina Ice business.
