Post-SIBR implementation outcomes for a 25-bed medical ICU in the US. 1. Mean rounding duration decreased 25% (p<0.01), or an average 5.5 minutes per patient. With an average daily census of 20 patients, that's an about a 110 minutes per day rounding. Casual lunch anyone? ;)

24-bed medical unit implemented #SIBR #wardrounds, no change in Length of Stay but a 30% reduction in 7-day readmissions (p=0.03) and 19% reduction in 30-day readmissions (not statistically significant, but "clinically significant").

Inspired by opthamologist-comedian @DGlaucomflecken, we've tried to punch up our sample nursing Change of Shift Huddle sheet. (For those who don't know: many hospital units conduct a 2-minute huddle at each shift-change to orient the oncoming staff and create good team vibes.)

Outcomes for a 30-bed medical unit in the US that implemented the #ACU care model with #SIBR #wardrounds. The unit achieved a 16% reduction in Length of Stay (4.9 days to 4.1). They also achieved a 25% reduction in 30-day readmissions.

Last piece of outcomes data for the 35-bed hematology oncology & BMT unit: discharge scripts for patients were ready on average a day earlier than they had been prior to #SIBR #wardrounds implementation. It might seem negligible but it's often a discharge blocker & impedes flow.

Yet more hematology oncology & BMT unit outcomes. Today, a 𝟰𝟳% 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 in average monthly skin integrity incidents. Just think of the savings in nursing paperwork that would need to be completed. @doctorcaldwell

F/U on the 35-bed hematology onc & BMT unit, 12 months post-SIBR implementation, the unit saw a 19.7% in average monthly fall incidents. Don't know about you, but I've seen targeted interventions that have had less impact than this.

F/U on this week's Haem Onc & BMT unit data. The unit also saw a 21.6% reduction in medication incidents.

The same 35 bed haem onc & BMT unit also saw a dramatic increase in VTE prophylaxis compliance after #SIBR #wardrounds implementation: 23% compliance up to 𝟳𝟲%. Lots of opportunity to reduce those common causes of hospital acquired complications. #teamwork #hospital #oncology
