Similar experience in ICU.
Patients overdose, require life support, survive and then want to go to detox for help....but there are no beds...so they are discharged back to the street or shelter.
People come to ERs seeking help to detox. But there are no Toronto detox beds. People leave with a sheet of paper. They don't want to sit in a chair until the morning.
Politicians talk about forcing people into detox but we can't even handle those that actually want help.
