Amazing visual!!! "We used an infant pig model to investigate the relationships between #anatomy, #physiology, and function of the tongue to examine how lingual function is modulated in the transition from infancy to adulthood." by Steer et al doi.org/10.1093/icb/icad023 #mammals

New paper from the lab just dropped in @ICB_journal , looking at how the tongue functions during suckling vs drinking in mammals, with superstar (recently graduated) Kendall Steer as lead author! academic.oup.com/icb/advance…

Why am I not surprised.
In case you missed it: Women are less likely to be credited for their scientific contributions than men. It’s true across multiple fields & at all stages, with important repercussions for career progress. #WomenInSTEM #WomenInMedicine #MedTwitter nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

IMHO, science should have no boundaries and cross disciplinary work should be encouraged. Great interview with @Viveknprakash . Thanks @WheelerLab1 for co organizing the symposium. @NSF and COB for support. @SICB_ is the best home society.
A Sunday #Science read: An interview with Dr. Vivek Prakash (@Viveknprakash ) on career transitions between #physics and #Biology by Joseph Mack integrativeandcomparativebio… This author was part of s6 headed by @drpluteus & Dr. Jeanette Wheeler #sciencetwitter #Phd #academia

Everyone needs more #larvae in their life! I just finished digitizing 31 larval (and juvenile) types and made them available as stickers. These were inspired by plankton sorting on research cruises in the Gulf of Mexico studying cold seeps. etsy.com/shop/NoDexterity #bio #stickers

True ...And it is even harder when you are insecure and eager to please...
One of my biggest issues with academia is that the reward for being incompetent at service is less service, and the reward for being good at service is more service, which can lead to unequal ( very often gendered) service distributions. Any tips for dealing with this?!
