It's great to be back on Mabuyag as part of our #seagrass exclusion experiment. Today @drpyork and I have been checking on our most remote exclusion cages on Orman Reefs, chatting with the community about this project and sharing knowledge about seagrasses and herbivores.

New research led by @samantha_tol out of @SeagrassEcology @TropWATER @jcu shows #turtles and #dugong on the #GBR not only help disperse seagrass seeds but also improve their germination rates.
Mega-herbivores, #dugong and #greenseaturtles, have been found to increase #seagrass germination, with up to four times greater germination probability and up to 60% faster time to germinate. Read how here: doi.org/10.1111/btp.13001

My final PhD chapter is now published! We found that the impact of green turtle and dugong grazing on seagrass meadows varies spatially on a regional scale, but also over time at the same location. A huge thank you to my lab team and my supervisors! doi.org/10.3354/meps13703
