I can’t be the only one who thinks this China visit with all the US technocrats was nothing more than a staged dog and pony show and basically achieved nothing. No deals, investment, or change in regulation. Only “China wants the Straight open, doesn’t want Iran to have a nuke.”

The Fed might prefer to say nothing this week. But the projections force them to sketch out a path. Two former Fed presidents told me they'd want to avoid projecting near-term cuts in the current situation.
