San Francisco just recorded the lowest number of overdose deaths since we began tracking in 2020. One death is too many, but the progress we continue to make gives us hope.
Since I took office, we have reformed our street outreach teams, invested in new treatment and recovery solutions including long acting medication, and stood up more than 600 shelter and treatment beds to get people the help they need.
So far this year, overdose deaths are down 30% compared to last year, but the work is far from over, and we will continue to be relentless.
