I'm seeing this so often, it's time to speak out: the dreaded #startup "DOWN round" financing where founder equity is wiped out. (You'll want to RT this.) How does a founder avoid this from its insider VCs? Here's the founder's checkmate move: "pay to play". find an investor (outsider is best, but any investor will do, even the founder herself) and put forth a term sheet that funds the company to a new milestone/inflection point... doesn't need to be huge, even 3 months runway is enough. force every investor (including the vulture capitalist down rounders) to participate or get wiped out in a forced conversion to common (often a reverse 10:1). close round. Ask your lawyers, find an investor ally, and execute. Don't get down rounded - that's for amateurs. RT please to help founders in 2023.

Thanks @BMWPDS for a great M School experience. As a longtime owner (first introduced to the brand in ‘93 via a ‘73 2002) and former intern at BMWNA (Motorcyle Group ‘98) the experience meant a lot. Great instructors and fantastic fun with the M2, M4, and M5. #20BMWPC

It took avg of 4.1 years in drug discovery in 1998. It takes 4.1 years now, nearly 20 years later (accdg to KMR). I'm both frustrated and puzzled by this - where's the "big impact" of massive increases in computational power on shortening drug discovery cycle times?
