Wow, times have changed!
A Hansard remark from the MP and Financial Secretary to the Admiralty, Robert Allan MP in 1959 on expanding the WRNS and why this is good for 'aspiring sailors' who 'cannot marry the Admirals daughter' but instead 'marry his flag lieutenant'. Times have changed!

Well now….
On May 7, 1977 at the G7 Summit in London, England, as dignitaries walked away, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau did a pirouette. It became one of the most famous Canadian photos of the 1970s. But it wasn't the Queen in that photo. This is the story. 📸 Doug Ball 🧵 1/6

My latest book purchase. Written by a Capt. Vieth who served at the tail end of the Crimean War then in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Part military, part sporting memoir he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He once had an accident with a muzzle loader close to wear I live.

After I joined the Reg F and was doing my PLQ, we were doing a scenario where I was “guarding” the gate of a FOB in a hostile area waiting for a “General” who was arriving. He arrived and said he was Gen. de Chastelain. I replied that he wasn’t, as I had met him twice.1/2

The whole scenario hinged on this person coming into the FOB and detonating a bomb as part of the exercise. The instructors had to re-start the scenario and told me to let this person in next time 2/2.
