The experiment was a 4 month acclimation to a range of temperatures, and showed that aerobic scope increased up to 18C while growth declined above 12C. We concluded that oxygen transport was not limiting growth at high temperatures, contradicting a central OCLTT prediction.

I found these sprouting in debris where the trunk door seals in a car. Any idea what they are 🤔 I’ve attempted to relocate them to a pot in my house and see what they grow into…

Fascinating talk by @KZ_UTAustin and much appreciation for beautifully explaining the hidden biases inherent in science, how they manifest, and how diversity of identities and experiences makes science better 🐸

Although I’m not an evolutionary biologist per se, Darwin’s work has left it’s mark on me (literally!)
And it was a lecture by @ehab_abouheif on Gould’s Wonderful Life that inspired me to dedicate my life to the study of biology 🐢 so thanks again @JimCostaHBS and congrats 🎉
I do anticipate some tough conversations in using Darwin’s work as teaching tools with historically excluded kids - he certainly had some progressive views (see: Darwin’s Sacred Quest) as well as some more problematic ones. Open to suggestions!
