If you do nothing else today, stop and take 2 minutes to listen to Kentucky Baseball’s @Coach_Mingione PREACH during his press conference after his team punched its ticket to the College World Series for the first time ever. Incredible stuff 🙏

Quality infield drills are important…true…But NOTHING takes the place, as far as importance, as taking ground balls (all types) on a stop watch with throws to 1B and turning double plays. 4.0 seconds is my personal threshold. This is from contact with ball to 1B receiving throw (or contact with a net at 1B). The infielder’s body will begin to self organize and become more efficient over continued reps. Players will start to recognize when they are wasting valuable “click, click, click” … split seconds on the clock. They will also realize when they have to come get the ball to cut distance, how to use minimal footwork to field and throw, and how to throw from various arm slots to beat the clock. Once you can continuously beat 4 seconds, you can add and subtract time challenges to simulate various types of runners.
