Apparently we got our Nolan Ryan bloody jersey story all wrong and AI is ON IT. According to Yardbarker via something called EasySportz, it was bloody because Nolan tore a guy’s arm off in the 1974 World Series. yardbarker.com/mlb/articles/…
In 1990, in a game that wasn’t even televised, a photographer snapped a photo of a bloodied Nolan Ryan, which became a defining part of Ryan’s image. The story of Nolan and Linda, and an enduring piece of Texana as the Rangers commemorate the moment. espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/4889…

My dad woke me up to tell me “Michael Jackson just slid across the damn floor like he had ball bearings on his feet.” 😂
43 years ago, Michael Jackson did the moonwalk on television for the first time while performing ‘Billie Jean’ at Motown 25.

I can't imagine how many hours of his life Jack has devoted to covering East Texas sports, supporting kids, recording history and making sure everyone gets their due. One of the most selfless journalists I've ever known, including me calling him for advice. So well-deserved.
Let's give a round of applause for the Putt Powell Sportswriter of the Year, JACK STALLARD!👏 Thank you for your outstanding coverage in sports! #THSCAproud

Sawyer Robertson’s professor in Baylor’s Sales Strategy in Sports and Entertainment program sent out a release exempting students from updating their LinkedIn if they can surpass 5,000 passing yards 😂
NEW: Baylor QB Sawyer Robertson said he skipped every LinkedIn assignment in his classes because he knew he’d succeed in football. “You can check my LinkedIn now, it’s still not updated. I knew football was going to work out for me.” 😳

“Most of us slip on ice outside the grocery store and immediately consider leaving town. So imagine what it must feel like to try to rebuild your career and have your toupee punched off in front of 10,000 people, with millions more online reveling in that embarrassment forever.”

This gnome has its devotees, like the gnomie Kenneth Locke, a walking Where’s Waldo from Augusta. The 2016 one sold for less than $50 originally and now commands more than $10,000 on the collectibles market. But Augusta National doesn’t need “viral” trends to sell merch.

From Cody Campbell on Brett Yormark: “As commissioner, he needs to remember that he works for the Presidents, and the Presidents work for the Boards. He is not the dictator of the conference. That’s not his role. It is his responsibility to advocate for his members in all cases.”
Apparently Brett didn’t get the memo: EVERYTHING RUNS THROUGH LUBBOCK!! Maybe we should bring the tortillas back?? lubbockonline.com/story/spor…

Good story by Carter. If you ever wondered why Haynes King was so tough, John’s a big reason why. “He comes off as this old, grumpy guy that’s a hardass,” Haynes, said. “At the end of the day, he does have a couple of soft spots.”
Over 242 career wins, John King became so intertwined with Longview football that it was impossible to imagine one without the other. Last fall, the town - and the coach - had to reckon with that possibility when he was diagnosed with mouth cancer. “You’ve told everybody all these times to Lobo Up. It’s time for you to do the same thing.” His battle was the definition of “Lobo Up.” FEATURE: texasfootball.com/article/20…

Here is the call sheet Sawyer Robertson carried in his wallet since 2022. Robertson idolized leach growing up in Lubbock, got to play for him, then was lost when Leach died. A meaningful gift for sure. (that’s cool @SawRobertson12, I didn’t want it anyway) espn.com/nfl/draft2026/story…
This might be the best gift I have ever received… a real Mike Leach call sheet!! Thank you so much Sawyer, this means the world to me.
