Crew quarters on #StarTrekTNG often feature a strange transparent dome on a tripod. Here, it is seen in "Manhunt"↖️, "Times Square"↗️, "Pen Pals"⬅️, "The High Ground"➡️ (on Rutia IV) and "In Theory"↙️. It even appeared in this (in)famous #StarTrekVOY article in the November 24th 1996 edition of The Sun Parade.😅
Look what arrived in my mailbox today - "The Art of #StarTrekLowerDecks"! 😍 This is an excellent book with many many pictures, design sketches and background tidbits. Each episode is covered on 4-8 pages and it includes countless, I mean COUNTLESS beautiful images and orthos of all the various alien and Starfleet starships seen on the show. Of course, all the different versions of the USS Cerritos (inside and outside) seen on the show are also covered. My verdict: "This book will nourish me for a long, long time!" 😊
They have tried so many different colours to backlight the transparent wall panels in Troi's office on #StarTrekTNG! Here you can see the chosen colours in "The Icarus Factor"↖️, "The Price"↗️, "Hollow Pursuits"⬅️, "The Loss"➡️, "Data's Day"↙️ (the same colour again!) and in "In Theory"↘️.
Big thanks to everybody who helped me realize that what is seen through the open door to Data's quarters as Jenna D'Sora enters in #StarTrekTNG's "In Theory" is the left sneaker of a filming crewperson, sitting on a chair, like in this photo from the production of season 1. :-)
#StarTrekTNG's "In Theory" is the first episode in which a new type of table and matching chairs appears in the junior officers' crew quarters set. These screenshots show the recurring chairs and table.
Here's an overview of the 16 paintings created by Mike Minor that were actually seen in season 3 of #StarTrekTOS. I've also included a quote from Starlog Issue 25 (August 1979) in which Mike Minor himself reveals how his paintings ended up on #TOS. I hope you enjoyed this little foray into space art. :-)
I've enjoyed writing about Picard's ready room crystal so much that I have compiled all of my research into one concise article for Ex Astris Scientia. There's even one additional observation I haven't written about here!
Please do me one favour: If you've enjoyed this as well, please DO leave a comment at the bottom of the article so Bernd and I know that turning this into an article for easy future reference was worth the while.

OTD, Star Trek: TNG's "The First Duty," with guest star Robert Duncan McNeill as Nicholas Locarno, the inspiration for the character of Tom Paris on Voyager and a whole storyline on Lower Decks. It also introduced Shannon Fill as Sito, who'll be at STLV this year.

I have written or co-written articles about all kinds of Starfleet or alien logos/emblems for Ex Astris Scientia. The only major emblem that is missing is the Bajoran one. The Bajoran emblem appears all over #DS9, sometimes highly stylized as part of some column, doorway or set decoration. Beginning today, I will go through all episodes of #StarTrekDS9, looking for appearances of the Bajoran emblem and post about them on a daily basis. :-)
I love how Captain Kirk expresses warmth and humor in his initial scenes in both #StarTrekTOS' "Where No One Has Gone Before"⬆️ and "The Man Trap"⬇️ when talking to his colleagues and friends Spock and McCoy respectively. These moments of levity and wit make his character instantly relatable and endearing to the audience. Happy 95th Birthday, William Shatner! 😊🎉🖖
Happy birthday to J.G. Hertzler, best known to fans as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Martok, although he has played other Klingons, a Vulcan, a Hirogen, a Changeling, and a Drookmani, appearing on DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, and Lower Decks.
