1/ 3 years ago on Thanksgiving day, my oldest son had anaphylaxis and we discovered his allergy to tree nuts. We had a houseful of people and instead he and I spent hours in the Peds ED in my own department, taken care of by some of my amazing co-workers.
3/ So to my colleagues in healthcare, and anyone on the frontline (EMS, fire, police), and to anyone else in a service industry who has to work on holidays like today taking care of others, I give you my thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving!

ACEP serves as the voice of individual emergency physicians, regardless of where they practice. Our leadership is as diverse as our members, and they’re democratically elected by their peers, not outside interests.
We need facts and data to tackle challenges, not misinformation.
ALT Quote from Gillian Schmitz: "Private equity, consolidation in healthcare, and corporate ownership in medicine. Everyone take a deep breath. I believe that if we don’t start talking about difficult topics, hearing both sides, understanding the realities of market forces, and the reimbursement challenges impacting us all—we’re never going to find common ground or solutions. So let’s start talking about it. But let us speak with facts and data and not rumors and misinformation or we’re no better than those who spread rumors and untruths about vaccines and ivermectin."
A recent study has shown that adults prefer care led by emergency physicians in a crisis. There is no question that frontline physicians are valued by their patients and community.
