An @irelandwales project researching ways to improve biodiversity on coastal structures and benefit communities through #ecologicalengineering enhancements.
✨ Ecostructure’s website has been redesigned to showcase the tools and outputs we’ve produced over the past five years to support eco-engineering and biosecurity solutions for coastal and marine structures.

Great talk by @AberDLSAGB @HarryThatcher10 on his @ecostructure_ research on the movement of European lobster around scour defence associated with offshore wind farms - spoiler alert they like it
The entire Co Cork coast is to be assessed and mapped for coastal erosion - findings will inform future planning of coastal management, which is critical for the South-West coast which is predicted to face the largest climate change increase in erosion

Interested in Ecostructure’s tools resources for eco-engineering & biosecurity of coastal structures? @Arup@ArupUK produced a guide for practitioners to understand each, our main findings, and how they can be used in practice to support decision making.

I’m excited for our first #ReGenOurCoasts deployment of biodegradable structures! First time trialling this #restoration method in #mangrove in Australia. Hopefully this will help the little seeds and seedlings stay strong through tides and storms and grow into thriving mangroves

In October, SARCC held their UK regional seminar in
partnership with @marineffproject, #3DPARE and @ecostructure_ discussing the main learnings of #SARCCeu and the future of nature-based solutions. Watch the video below for an overview📹
ALT ECOSTRUCTURE is a €5.5 million European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) project through the Ireland-Wales Cooperation programme, bringing together five leading universities in Wales and Ireland to research and raise awareness of eco-engineering solutions to the challenge of coastal adaptation to climate change.
Just 1 week left until our project finishes! 🥲 What an amazing 5 years of research. If you haven’t watched the presentations from our final conference on YouTube, have a look, or read our summary thread about them below!

Mass mortalities washing up on beaches, lobsters and crabs dying in pots, lobster and crab eggs dissolving. Fair to say it’s been a concerning year along the Northeast coast. TODAY universities release their research findings, a thread 🧵1/8
