A 15th-century fortress, Blackness Castle sits upon the south shore of the Firth of Forth with spectacular views across the water. At the port that once served the burgh of Linlithgow during medieval times, the castle went on to become a royal castle, a state prison, and an ammunition depot, in the later 19th century. The castle became a visitor attraction after the First World War, with visitors from across the world also recognising the castle as a prominent feature in the TV series 'Outlander'.

Standing proudly atop Calton Hill, the National Monument of Scotland is one of Edinburgh’s most striking landmarks. Built in the early 19th century as a tribute to Scottish soldiers who lost their lives in the Napoleonic Wars, it was designed to mirror the Parthenon in Athens. Construction began in 1826 but was left unfinished just a few years later when funding ran out, leaving only its iconic row of twelve columns standing against the skyline.🏛️ 📍 Calton Hill 📸IG/bynatalieen

Edinburgh's Old Town is full of history, where narrow passageways lead to hidden courtyards, haunted tales and century old stories. While some are named after infamous residents like Deacon William Brodie, others reveal Edinburgh's industrial past. With over 250 closes in the city, each and every one exists because of how Edinburgh developed during the medieval period.
