Reporter Eiliv Frich Flydal @eiliv_ from Norway’s @vgnett has been investigating banned doctors since 2011 and has heard first hand about the impact on patients. VG and Flydal were part of the #BadPractice investigation with OCCRP and media in dozens of countries. Reporters uncovered more than 100 doctors across Europe and beyond who were banned in one jurisdiction but still licensed elsewhere.

In most countries, the public has no access to their doctor’s disciplinary record. And even when there is transparency, connecting the dots to see if a doctor was sanctioned abroad is nearly impossible. Experts told us that stronger cross-border oversight and better information sharing are needed to protect patients. @CPME_EUROPA @medwma @eupatients @PatientsAssoc @HealthwatchE
