"High, but not on life"
New York Warriors (1990) is a top-down run-and-gun shooter developed by Synergistic Software and published by Virgin Games for Amiga, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, and DOS.
It is set in a post-apocalyptic New York, and you control a commando fighting through missions against some nutcase street gangs (Ramboids, Killer Klowns, Ganja, etc.) inspired by the movie The Warriors.
It's a wonderful B-movie trash-shooter... and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Check out the body in the garbage bin at the 0:59 mark - including the nice little detail of flies around it, lol!
Games like this were a crapload of fun, you simply blast everything to shreds, and the mucis, sound effects, and deranged looking mobs just add to the pure chaos that unfolds.
