returning briefly from hiatus to say my favorite part of the two towers is when treebeard goes, (mournfully) we lost the entwives long ago, and pippin is like, omg how did they die??, and treebeard says, i didn't say they DIED i said we LOST them. we don't know where they are.

i'm in the final stretch of this amazing month-long writing residency in wyoming. i arrived here with a 90k partial shitty draft and i'm leaving with a 48k partial clean draft a 50k shitty draft a 23k trash document.

it's been exactly a week! started using a nicer mouse and keyboard and my hands are doing much better. i've been learning a lot writing this, namely vietnam war resistance efforts and how to hotwire cars.

~31k for the month, but clean drafting moves so much slower than shitty drafting. i also wrote a revision plan for a different novel, made my 2023 application calendar, and bought an egregiously expensive typewriter. very productive residency!

when a bank robber breaks into a walk-in vault and money is stacked on a table for some reason. there are TWO vaults in every bank. safe deposit box vault, for customers, and money vault, for money. and you can't walk into the money vault. money doesn't take up that much space.
