Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED. Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. The official signing ceremony will be on Friday, 19 June in Switzerland. We would like to thank the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their commitment to finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our brothers in this mediation effort, the great leadership of State of Qatar, for their support in reaching this agreement. I would also especially thank the visionary leadership of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Republic of Türkiye for their immense contributions in this regard. With the agreement now in place, mediators will facilitate a series of meetings this week. These pre-implementation discussions will lay the foundation for the technical talks and the official signing ceremony. @realDonaldTrump @JDVance @SecRubio @SteveWitkoff @SEPeaceMissions @drpezeshkian @mb_ghalibaf @araghchi

🇸🇴 Nunca vi algo así. En Somalia hoy se llenó un estadio para recibir como héroe nacional a Omar Artan, el árbitro al que Estados Unidos le negó la entrada al Mundial. Increíble.

This is fun and yet a sad indictment of Western intervention in African states. Thanks, @nnamdiobiii , for alternative understandings of key phrases 🌸
Every time the West calls an African country "unstable" they mean the resources stopped flowing. I made a glossary of 100 diplomatic words they use and what they actually mean. orange-anselma-35.tiiny.site… Bookmark this before your next history book. 🧵

Been saying this for a while, but will repeat it for emphasis: “I was only following orders” was rejected as a defense at the Nuremberg Trials.

The 25th amendment needs to be invoked. He is a genocidal lunatic. Our Congress and military need to intervene. We are beyond madness.
This is a brazen pre-admission of genocide against the Iranian people, which would obviously be a war crime. Madness.

One of the most atrocious international crimes being committed right now is the US blockade on Cuba. The US government is doing everything it can to strangle Cuba’s economy, especially by ramping up the oil blockade. No electricity, no oil, no fuel. Barely any food. A severe health crisis has erupted. Why is the US doing this? For no reason other than its dislike of the Cuban regime. Cuba poses no threat to the US. There is overwhelming global opposition to the US blockade. UN human rights experts have condemned it as a serious violation of international law. Now, Trump wants to take over Cuba, saying: “I can do anything I want with it.” This is one of the most grotesque crimes of our time.

We’ve lost another good one today. R.I.P. Robert Duvall. You were glorious in The Godfather. Understated elegiac performer and an elegant actor 🩷🌸

I make similar arguments to @PaulKagame in my body of work on #international law @_AfricanUnion and #coups and other #unconstitutional changes of government in Africa. Glad to see an African leader say clearly that not all #coups are bad 🌸

A thread. Military intervention by one state across the borders of another state is illegal under international law, unless with UN Security Council authorisation
"Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening there, and in numerous other Countries. We stand ready, willing, and able to save our Great Christian Population around the World!" - President Trump

Nevertheless, that framing is important. It enables Trump to argue that the intervention is limited in time and space (short, just to target terrorists in a specific area) so limited breach of territorial integrity.

The framing also enable the argument that the intent was not to undermine Nigeria’s political independence as his actions are not for regime change. We wait and watch.
