5 yrs ago a white supremacist shot 51 Muslims because he feared white people were being ‘replaced’. We had a royal commission, which recommended that we, like many countries, had hate speech laws. Today the govt abandoned that work. That’s a shit msg to send the victims.
I’ve instructed the Law Commission to stop all work on hate speech legislation.

I love the PANNZ performing arts market, but I think I count only 1 panelist (out of quite a few) based in Te Waipounamu, the South Island. Needs more geographic reach!

Efeso Collins was the first person I saw up close, as a teen, who was a natural, outstanding leader, so obviously marked for greatness no one even stopped to consider it. One of the country’s best orators and such an incredibly warm, positive and kind person. RIP Fa’anana

How important, yet simple, it is to say “thank you”. Please is also a magic word!

Given Lotteries NZ have now capped their funding for @CreativeNZ a bit of Scottish nous from the incoming @NZNationalParty government wouldn’t go astray…
BREAKING: The SNP Scottish Government will more than double investment in arts and culture, so that in 5 years our investment will be £100m higher than it is now. This is a huge vote of confidence of our cultural sector. #SNP23 #Culture #Scotland

Sad to see @CriticalStages - a key Australian arts touring org - going in to liquidation. Covid is still hurting so many, as well as the massive travel cost increases we are all seeing. I hope we don’t see this in NZ… but I won’t be surprised if we do.
