#SoonInAJPH "Children’s Insurance Stability and Coverage Inequities During the COVID-19 Continuous Coverage Provision" COVID-19 continuous coverage provisions improved children’s public coverage continuity, particularly for children who may be most at risk of coverage loss.

States with Medicaid expansion have fewer maternal deaths than states without. This is according to a 2020 study by postdoctoral researcher @eleliason who says timely care for chronic conditions makes pregnancy & birth safer.🤰🏾 #blackmaternalhealthweek vox.com/the-highlight/240924…

I tear up every time another state implements the option to extend #Medicaid from 60 days to one year #postpartum. This policy will help people maintain their health in the critical one year period following pregnancy. #MedicaidMatters
I applaud Missouri’s decision to extend postpartum coverage for a full year after delivery, making it the 40th state to accept our offer & join the effort to confront the nation’s maternal mortality & morbidity crisis. I urge all remaining states to extend postpartum coverage.

The Biden Administration announced that 30 states were conducting Medicaid renewals incorrectly, and that nearly 500,000 people will have coverage restored, many of them kids. It's not often that a government enforcement action has such sweeping effects. cms.gov/newsroom/press-relea…

This is wonky but important: The Biden Administration is calling on states to fix a glitch in some of their Medicaid renewal systems that is resulting in kids being wrongly dropped from coverage. cms.gov/newsroom/press-relea…

In 2021, I called on states to expand Medicaid postpartum coverage to 12 months. Today, 36 states have answered the call — and I look forward to all 50 achieving this critical goal as we improve maternal health across America.

Happy to see this out with @hmacd23, Stephanie Hanson, & Julia Interrante in @MedicalCareLWW! We examine difficulties affording medical bills using 2019-21 NHIS data, finding higher health care unaffordability in the postpartum period with similar estimates in rural & urban areas
Glad these important findings have been published and grateful to have co-authored with such brilliant researchers! @eleliason Rural-Urban Differences in Health Care Unaffordability... : Medical Care journals.lww.com/lww-medical…

Our findings suggest that adoption of state postpartum Medicaid extensions under the American Rescue Plan Act could help prevent a return to pre-pandemic rates of postpartum Medicaid coverage loss as the COVID-19 Medicaid continuous coverage requirements unwind (2/2)
