Greek millions financing a state-driven disinformation campaign to get the #ElginMarbles away from @britishmuseum . It won't succeed, not on my watch. History must be respected: all of it, not just the parts we like.

Quite worrying that discussion of great importance such as those about our cultural heritage in international fora are conducted by a mass of ignorant people following their gut feelings and displaying bullying behaviours.
But they say it themselves: the topic of the #ElginMarbles has been on the agenda of the #ICPRCP for more than 40 years now and they have precious little to sho for it. Someone is wasting money big time on this, showing both how useless the committee is and how baseless the Greek claim can be.
@BCRPM going after it is just the logical followup to this long parade of uselessness.

Turkish culture minister Ersoy,: "As Tรผrkiye, our support for Greece's arguments regarding the Parthenon Sculptures in the relevant UNESCO committee meetings is a manifestation of the importance we attach to the preservation of cultural heritage within its historical and cultural context."
He said this during a bilateral meeting in Cappadocia with his Greek counterpart, Lina Mendoni.
Is this the endgame? Are they paving the way for some big repatriation ask of their own, such as the Pergamon Altar, or similar star-objects? Will geographical origin be the primary criterion for allocating cultural heritage moving forward?

Now this sounds like a fun job.
I bet that if they hire you you could sneak around the monument on your own at night, touch the stones, chant incantations, bring back the ancestors and sacrifice a tourist or two.
You know, the usual.

When Will the Woke Crowd Leave the Elgin Marbles Alone?
The Elgin Marbles debate is about far more than the marbles themselves. It is about the ludicrous concept that art and culture should be tribalised.

Excluding families with small kids from using e-gates at border control is absolutely moronic. It could take two minutes, instead it takes 30 all because they have to verify that a toddler is not a dangerous terrorist

Last week, I had a lovely chat with Philip Davies for his YouTube series "Amazing Academics". Youcan now watch the recording here:

"In the eyes of Hellenic nationalists, I am guilty of one of the worst possible crimes: I donโt believe the Elgin Marbles should go back to Athens. And that is why I have been cancelled."
