Spotify co-CEO @GustavS says the biggest misconception about Spotify is that it pays artists less than other streaming companies. "[Spotify] paid out over $70B to the music industry, $11B of those just last year. That's more than anyone has paid anyone ever in the music industry."

We’re launching a cool feature globally for Premium users. It’s called Offline Backup, a custom playlist based on your own listening that automatically appears when you are offline (like when on a plane … or deep in a Swedish forest). That way, you never have to be caught without downloaded content on Spotify. Check out below for more details. I hope you like it!

People thinking they are smart but being unable to use the words "tack" (from sailing, a direction or angle that one takes), "tactic" (a strategy that one employs), or "tact" (diplomatic politeness that conveys potentially objectionable things in an unobjectionable way) is funny.

Historic news out of the US today with a far-reaching complaint from @TheJusticeDept saying Apple has violated federal antitrust law and abused its market dominance. x.com/TheJusticeDept/status/…

Replying to @TheJusticeDept
"Monopolies like Apple's threaten the free & fair markets upon which our economy is based. They stifle innovation, hurt producers & workers & increase costs for consumers. If left unchallenged, Apple will only continue to strengthen its smartphone monopoly." - AG Garland

Spotify paid out a record-breaking $9 billion to the music industry in 2023. But I got a lot of questions on if this only benefits the big artists. The answer: nearly half, $4.5bn was generated by independent artists. This is a major shift for the industry, showing the changing landscape. I decided to do a video on this and some of the other payout questions I am getting. Let me know what you think.

One of my favorite definitions of “music” is via artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, who said: “Art is how we decorate space, music is how we decorate time.”

"Apple is both the architect of the iOS ‘ecosystem’ and its largest inhabitant. The company charges an excessive 30 per cent tax and imposes prohibitive rules on developers, many of whom helped build iOS into what it is today." dailymail.co.uk/debate/artic…

Regulations are anti-capitalism the same way that the rules of baseball are anti-baseball
What's cool about the Free Market is how the economy spirals out of control every few years and as a result we are all assured that we have to sacrifice and give some extremely wealthy people a bunch of money for some reason.

That a technology which assembles words without any notion of meaning is enough to make people think AI is real raises questions about non-artificial intelligence.
