My research and scholarship is an act of revolution. My choice to exist is an act of revolution. Like those who came before me, I will keep pressing on. But I'm going to take excellent care of myself first. I'm no longer setting myself on fire to keep y'all warm.

.@GovParsonMO, please do not let Missouri execute @innocence @the_MIP client #MarcellusWilliams, an innocent person — where there is overwhelming evidence that his trial was constitutionally unfair — on 9/24. shorturl.at/K7jDT

I strongly encourage reading the SCOTUS decision, particularly the dissenting opinions. The, vote for people to make new laws. In the meantime, we'll see who's genuinely committed to equity and justice in health care and other sectors. 👀

After the health care I just received, I can see why the maternal death rate for Black women is 12x that of other women in NYC. I dream a world where we can all be seen and heard in health care settings.

Thankfully I have the option of changing providers. So many don't, and that can be catastrophic to women and girls across the lifespan. This is what you all are up against.

At the Loisaida Festival in NYC, there was a mobile laboratory called BioBus on site. As I was coming out, a little Black boy was coming in. I asked him if he wanted to be a scientist like me. With a big ol' smile, he just gave me a hug. I nearly lost it.🥰❤️

Today marks three years since Derek Chauvin murdered George Floyd. Three years since the largest series of antiracist demonstrations in history, followed by one of the most concerted racist movements to demonize and ban antiracist work in history. 📸 AFP

The research community needs to stop associating exclusivity with 'good' science. Inclusivity of more people with unique experiences and novel perspectives IS good science.

NYU Steinhardt Doctoral Convocation 2023. This is far and away one of the best parts of my job! I've had to clarify for some that I already have my Doctoral degrees, so congratulations to the Class of 2023! #representationmatters #theydidit #yepIamfaculty

Why 'suggested' author and reviewer guidelines aren't enough....
#Racebasedmedicine persists bc journals keep publishing it. Another article old unproven hypotheses about Black ppl to justify study w/ no mention of #structuralracism as potential reason for observed differences. Editors must require better. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…

Stop. Killing. Us.
Students at Staley High School in Kansas City, Missouri, walked out of class on Tuesday to march for Ralph Yarl, their Black classmate who was shot twice on Thursday by an 84-year-old white man after going to the wrong address to pick up his brothers. nyti.ms/3UK71Gj

It was truly an honor to participate in the development and description of the RESTORATIVE model! Being in this multidisciplinary space with a cadre of outstanding clinician-scientists to better understand pain inequities has been invaluable to me as a PT.
How do you honour the work of scholars to understand #pain inequities? 🚨Develop the RESTORATIVE model with an AMAZING team of women! doi.org/10.1037/amp0001042 @ManHealthPsych @US_ASP @DrCaliaMorais @TheDrIsN1 @emerriwether @AmberBrooksMD @lakeyamcgillphd @mjanevic @JanelleLetzen

This NCAA tournament was historic, but people will always show you who they really are. We see you, and we believe you.
There should be no reason for the racists/disrespectful/hurtful comments that people are saying about this team. It’s important to remember that God is watching and even a computer screen won’t help. I don’t want to hear that this happens to everyone because we know it doesn’t.

My sister-friend, @shamona_q, is watching her daughter, Bri, play for a chance to go to the 2023 NCAA Women's Final Four tomorrow! They're playing SC and the legendary Coach Dawn Staley. Let's get this W, Bri! #BallisLife #marchmadness2023 #NCAAWBB

Just gave an impromptu seminar with some 3rd year DPTs on job offer negotiation, loan repayment, and the 'hidden' costs of licensure and professional development. Many of them heard this stuff for the first time. This is why representation matters.

Navigating the systemic institutional barriers to accessing medically vulnerable and underserved populations is exhausting. I'm tired af, but determined.
