Instead of reflexively blaming chronic screen time , we need to ask ourselves why social media stole their childhoods to begin with. My diagnosis is there isn't a credible set of alternatives. Saturday jobs no longer exist, food and cinema tickets are too expensive, a lack of clubs and activities. These kids have been failed by the gerontocracy.
