It's been 9 days. Not a "Thank you for your feedback" or a "That's gonna be a no". Nothing. Nadda. Zip. If you have ever wondered why there are so many Core Trac tickets open in WordPress. Now you know.
My voice about AI token costs has been heard. Now we have a chance to make WordPress even better when it comes to AI in WP. A Trac ticket was open. There's a discussion about being VERY CLEAR & honest about the costs of using API Keys in the Dashboard core.trac.wordpress.org/tick…

I gave up on Claude Design. After seeing the produced product of an animation sequence, I realized it was just dressed up HTML and some fancy Javascript. One prompt in Design took up my whole 5 hour window. So I switched back to the CLI and I have the correct Youtube Intro.

Matt, I’ve followed the WordPress saga for a while now, and I need to say something about your WP23 post. Eric Binnion just told the world he has six months to live. His wife asked the oncologist how long he has. His mom left a comment telling him she’s proud of him. People who love him are trying to find the right words. That’s what’s happening on his blog right now. And on yours, his terminal diagnosis shows up as “LITERALLY DYING” in all caps — wedged between complaints about depositions and Signal chats. Not a tribute. Not a show of support. A rhetorical device in your legal PR war. You turned a man’s death sentence into a bullet point about how Silver Lake is making your life hard. If you actually care about Eric, be with him. Nothing WP Engine has done is stopping you from picking up the phone, getting on a plane, or writing something that’s actually about him and not about you. The fact that you chose to link his blog in that context tells people more about where your head is than any meditation practice ever could. Step back and read your own post as if you were Sara, or Eric’s mother, or his kids someday. Is that how you’d want your illness to be mentioned — as leverage?
I have held my tongue for 15 months, but I can't abide or normalize the legal violence that @wpengine is inflicting anymore. Here's my thoughts on @WordPress's 23rd birthday: wordpress.org/news/2026/05/w…

My opinions on #WordPress are generally for those who don't have a voice at the table or for those who simply wanted a website and got sucked into a maintenance plan with recurring fees. Been doing this WP thing for 15 years. My opinions have only become stronger over the years.

Migrating from EDD to anything else is going to be tough. Not Impossible, but more of a headache than one would imagine. However, there are some great alternatives out there that are not $500 a year just to play.
First time in 7 years, we've decided not to renew our EDD license. 2-3 years, no real updates. Nothing broke. Nothing got better either. Just $500/year with all the add-ons to… keep paying. Plugin still works. If anything conflicts later, we'll fix it ourselves.

First off: The free version of AI engine does not help you manage your API costs. That's a PRO feature. Second: connecting your API key is not the same thing as using your $20 a month claude account. I refuse to use any of this. I'll use the MCP connector and Abilities API.

To connect Claude, it uses a Anthropic API key from console.anthropic.com. Pay-per-token, billed to your credit card on file. A Claude Pro/Max plan has nothing to do with it. Two totally different products, two totally different billing systems. I wrote about this. Link 👇

Excellent to see that WordPress has now added customer-facing AI tools to the admin 👏. It's easy to set up and adds contextual AI features like AI title, description, block edits, and alt text. In future, I hope to see a sitewide AI assistant which you can use to make any changes to your site.

WordPress AI features are coming and the infrastructure is real. But there is a cost nobody is talking about. Not in the Automattic post. Not in the plugin demos. The gap between how a developer prompts an AI model. russellenvy.com/wordpress-ai…

I like that Mark keeps it Gangster. I share the same mentality. If I don't want my end users touching something on their site due to breakage - put the code in MU-Plugins. Respect!

Anything I want to always be true or enforced. Including hardcoding options, making certain plugins unable to be deactivated, and making certain plugins only work for local dev.

Dude. A page Speed score of 6 is BAD. This is a website that get's plenty of traffic. And their mobile score for the ORIGIN is 6? Single Digits? Elementor, WooCommerce website with Hello Elementor theme and a child theme. It's safe to say this isn't a "too many plugins" thing.

777⭐️'s on Github! That's dope. I never imagined my little project taking of into something full time. However, I've had a few offers to turn this into a workable scaling solution for teams looking to use AI in their daily workflow. Here. We. Go! russellenvy.com/tool/three-m…

Not a word from @chrislema , @learnwithmattc or @innerwebs. You say something nice, from the heart and how you really feel and they have nothing to say. But they had something to say when they misunderstood what was said. Oh boy did they sure drop a comment one after another.
Chris. You literally gave them a legit blueprint & the right people to succeed in this space. IMO, a money printing machine w/ brand trust & zero micromanaging attached. I also disagreed with Stellar. Left right after you. If you wonder who's fucking team I'm on: 👀👇

Destroyed. This hits hard. Words from the brain that helped create a plugin, a community and contributed to the open source community's journey forward.
Every founder who sells their company has to let go. I've been letting go since last fall. It's still hard to see a brand you built destroyed.

It's the end of a #WordPress era. I was lucky enough to know the brains behind some of my favorite plugins, check out where they were developed & take home some awesome stuff. I'm gonna have to have a beer in honor and pour out a 40oz later tonight for my homies.

Better hope that XRP starts popping off again or someone is washing dishes in the back to pay the bill. Seriously, this is unreal. Raising rates by 10x is a D*ck move.
I can't get over that my @harvest annual bill is going from $2,500/year to this recommended setup of $25,000/year. Are they insane?! 😱 Anyways, I just exported 10 years of Harvest time tracking data into my vibe coded archive. Switching off Harvest end of May. ✌️
