Need electrolytes but don’t have any Gatorade on hand? A simple homemade drink we use as an alternative. 2/3 water 1/3 cranberry juice A pinch of Baja salt 1 packet of lime concentrate powder Mix and drink. My oldest son calls it Gatorade light without any of the added sugar

Today I especially appreciate the Aloe Vera plants we have at home. You just never know when it’s going to come in handy. Today was that day.

I am prepping fajitas to slow cook in the oven. No time for a proper BBQ today. So oven it is. First major decision, what seasoning to add. I pulled out several contenders and opened each and sorted them into two. One that is a maybe. And one that is a resounding no. Pecan smoked salt…no Steak seasoning…maybe Smoked garlic finishing salt…what? I had no idea there were special salts for finishing. It has a light pleasant smoky smell. Not garlic like one would think. Not sure so I put it in maybe. Cowboy salt…yes The last one I didn’t look at. I smelled it and my immediate reaction was yes. Then I looked at it. Fajita Seasoning. Then I burst out into laughter. Well of course that one would be a yes. Duh! Here are the two seasonings that will impart their flavoring to my fajitas.

USA. A supermarket. I went to buy one bottle of the white sauce this nation pours on everything. I found a WALL. Ranch. Spicy ranch. Chipotle ranch. Avocado ranch. Bacon ranch. LIGHT ranch, for the disciplined. There was a ranch labeled "secret recipe" that printed its ingredients on the back, which is not how secrets work, and I respect the audacity. In Japan, a sauce knows its place. One dish, one purpose, centuries of refinement. Here I stood before forty bottles of the same white dynasty, each claiming the bloodline. I asked a passing employee: which is the true heir? He looked at the wall. He looked at me. "It's all just ranch, dude." It is NOT all just ranch. That is exactly what a branch family would say. I bought the original. The founding house. One honors the main line — this is not negotiable. I also bought the chipotle. We meet at lunch. Privately. The original does not know. A man may serve one lord and still admire the ambition of the younger branch. This is recorded in many histories, and I will not be judged by a nation with forty sauces in its door. At the register, the cashier saw my two bottles and said the most American sentence I have yet heard: "Smart. You got your everyday ranch and your fancy ranch." EVERYDAY RANCH AND FANCY RANCH. She understood the entire feudal structure instantly. This country runs deeper than it pretends. A man does not betray the main house in daylight. Lunch is at noon, with the curtains drawn. A man does not ask the dynasty to be one bottle. He only becomes loyal to more of them. So tell me, America, and be honest with me: how many ranches live in your door right now? Count them. Then tell me again who the samurai is.

Now that I have discovered the recliner rollable workstation life, I may never go back. I have a brand new powered standing desk...still sitting in the box. Working on my recliner has been the biggest game changer. Why isn't this normal way of working? When I think of all uncomfortable hours spent at a traditional office chair and desk...what a bad way to work.

What is the fascination that my generation has with “good” boxes? I feel like there was some sort of programming put into Saturday cartoons or Sesame Street that has Gen X saving what we term as good boxes. It makes no sense at all.

Why has a Sahara 2 not been green-lit? The chemistry. The music. The storytelling. All these years later the movie stands the test of time. Still good today as it was the day it was released. @McConaughey

Have you ever made a cup of coffee so good it feels like a cup of love? That happened this afternoon. And yet I made coffee the same every time. This coffee love experience does not happen every time. Why is that? Perhaps it's an extra bit of love from God.
