Want to test Medieval TrOCR Models on an entire manuscript page? This is a @Gradio app on @huggingface that let's you do that! Kraken is used for line detection. I'll add the ability to output the data as JSON if there's interest. Let me know if you want to see that added. #Medieval #HTR #MachineLearning #DataScience

The work done to revise sex gender representation in TEI markup is SO IMPORTANT. Previously it was 0 = Not known 1 = Male 2 = Female 9 = Not applicable We literally had to (or work around) encoding women/females as #2. Among many other probs that structure posed. THANK YOU!
Slides for our talk on revising Sex and Gender in the TEI Guidelines, by me, @raffazizzi, Helena Bermudez Sabel, and @JanelleJenstad bit.ly/teigender @TEIconsortium #TEIconsortium

Check out the new chapter in the TEI Guidelines on Computer-Mediated Communication (now chapter 9)…new with this release! Very happy we were able to complete this.
New release! The Six Degrees Release: coming for the most part from feature requests or bugs reported by the TEI community using the GitHub tracking system. Check it out: tei-c.org/release/doc/tei-p5…

And we managed to introduce a chapter with only one new element and two new attributes, pulling largely from resources available across the TEI. Looking forward to seeing what we do with CMC! tei-c.org/release/doc/tei-p5…

SUMERIAN HAS A FRUSTRATIVE MOOD If English had a frustrative mood I think I’d speak in nothing else.
Learning Sumerian would be a lot quicker if I didn't have to resist the urge to write poetry about each of the verbal moods. I'm sorry but the Frustrative, the mood of a wish that is not fulfilled, of what should be or have been... It's just too beautiful I can't even. 😍

This is an absolutely infuriating policy and attempt at violent erasure of our Indigenous colleagues identities.
On Friday, the Associated Press covered our story about South Dakota Board of Regents Policy 1.7.6. We are so appreciative to the media, friends, and family for the continued support. As of today, the SDBOR has not amended Policy 1.7.6. @John_A_Little

I love @SvahaUSA wore my code dresses to @KeystoneDH 2024 conference. But there’s a disturbing shift in their marketing. Latest message puts pasta shapes on women’s dress and code/tech print on button-down men’s shirt. Not a good look, Svaha. Put code back on the dresses plz.

Not sure if it was intentional to put the woman in the Pasta-abilities “Ravishing in Ravioli” dress first in the email followed by the bearded man wearing the “Get with the Program” printed shirt, but the gendered subtext sure looks like a throwback.
