Huge surveillance corporations like Palantir can use AI to increasingly track and record every aspect of our lives. We cannot allow a handful of tech billionaires to destroy what remains of personal privacy in America.

Here is my BAFTA speech in full, with the important bit that hasn't been shown. Also, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported us, and to our colleagues who rallied around us. And thank you to @BAFTA and the judges for a great evening and a great honour.

The documentary that the BBC refused to air - Gaza: Doctors Under Attack - won a Bafta last night. The documentary shows the targeting, detainment and torture of medics in Gaza by Israeli authorities. The decimation of Gaza’s healthcare system including the detention of healthcare workers is central to Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. Amnesty awarded Gaza: Doctors Under Attack at the Amnesty Media Awards last week. The work of everyone involved in making this documentary and fighting for it to be broadcast shows the importance of journalists willing to speak truth to power. #Bafta #Baftas

Absolutely brilliant. Congrats to @ramitanavai, @karimtl, @bendepear and everyone at Basement Films. BBC shamed itself with that decision.
Replying to @DEADLINE
“We refused to be silenced and censored,” she added. “We thank Channel 4 for showing this film.” Ben De Pear, the executive producer of 'Gaza: Doctors Under Attack' for Basement Films, then dared the BBC to edit the remarks from the ceremony, which is shown on BBC One on a two-hour time delay. “Given you dropped the film, will you drop us from the BAFTA screening?” he asked More details here: deadline.com/2026/05/gaza-do…

“We are suffering from two wars. The war of bombs, and the war of rats.” Rats have overrun Gaza's displacement camps – biting children as they sleep, spreading disease and destroying what little people have left.

This is just the best news. And to be clear: Ahmed should never have been arrested in the first place. Journalism is not a crime.
BREAKING Ahmed has been found innocent of all charges by a Kuwaiti court. Ahmed will be released.

Civil Defence crews were finally able to access the site where Leb journalist Amal Khalil was trapped under rubble but only hours later. They retrieved her body. Her newspaper Al Akbar has put out a video tribute. Lebanon’s Minister of Information condemned the incident describing the targeting of journalists as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and calling for international action.

Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil has been confirmed killed by Israel. Let's be clear: they targeted her, they launched a missile at her, and they prevented emergency services from reaching her. They are doing to Lebanon's journalists what they did to Gaza's.
