What a time to be alive
holy fuck, a hair dryer at a Paris airport broke Polymarket weather markets & made someone $34,000 richer - polymarket was settling Paris temperature bets on a single Météo France sensor sitting near the Charles de Gaulle runway perimeter - basically unguarded - the guy bought the long-shot outcome (like "22°C" when everyone expected 18°C) for pennies, since nobody thought it'd hit - then he walked up to the probe and briefly heated the air around it with a portable heat source, spiking the reading just long enough to register as the daily max - temperature snapped back to normal in minutes, the market resolved in his favor, and he cashed out - twice, on April 6 and April 15, before Météo France caught on and filed charges hyperstitions.

the peace talks are being sabotaged by "one of our greatest allies", shouldnt that make our opinion of that ally shift. It seems like common sense except our representatives seem to not agree. Or maybe they do but theyre compromised by said ally, either way this is going to reach a point of undeniablity. What will they do then ? Will they go as far as to prevent elections?

Simple Solution to the H1-B Debate: Companies that hire H1-B employees should pay a tax. At the end of the day, that job could be an American's job, but if it's not, it's fine; shit happens. Just cough up a tax for each one you hire and this will prove that its not about the money you're saving.

Written October 11th 2021 Laziness exists in every person in society. It's what keeps us "normal." Laziness might prove itself to be useful in that regard. It allows our societies to function by limiting the amount of change each human exerts into this world. The limited amount of change that does come forward is diluted enough for it to be sustainable by those around the change. There have to be moments, though, where heavy amounts of change do come forward, and these moments are the ones that go down in history.EDA #SelfImprovement #Philosophy #Motivation

11/15/21 On the topic of religion I'm not interested in debating whether religion is real or not. I feel like that's not the point. Anyone who is religious is usually finding motivation to be a better version of themselves; that's something I can't argue against. I do believe, though, that it can be dangerous and enhance a person's ego, giving them a sense of being grandiose. I personally like where I stand with "God"; I see it as there has to be something out there, but I don't think anyone really knows what that is exactly. There are too many religions to believe that anyone is telling the truth, although I'll have to admit that the idea of being able to accept one as truth and believe that when I die, I'll know exactly what will happen is tempting as fuck. But this dismissal of skepticism is something I'll never be able to approve of personally.EDA #RELIGION #PHILOSOPHY

The "witty" ones. The man who seeks wit has no wit - Nietzsche Interpretation written circa 2015 Does not seeking wit attain wit? Or does it not work that way either? I plan on understanding this because it seems very easy to say, "Yeah, I already know this." So, trying to be clever makes you less clever? Maybe thinking you are witty limits your thoughts, and you are blinded by ignorance and uncertainty. So, in order to be witty, one must know that he is not witty. Believing in it or seeking it might only force one to block out new ideas, almost as if it's a wall that gets built around one's thoughts. When this wall gets hit, out of insecurity, one helplessly tries to build it back up. We should tear the wall down, reach across, and see what comes from it; only then will wittiness exist. EDA What does wit mean to you? Feel free to discuss no matter how pointless it feels #Philosophy #SelfImprovement #Wit
