If youâre a designer or PM developing products in a specialized domain (e.g. healthcare, gov, science...), working effectively with internal subject matter experts is an essential skill. Some key principles I teach my clients & teams: 1/
"An invitation to co-build communities of public feelings (...) Our principle would be, "We care, therefore we survive" An important reminder of the politics of care, and how it needs to be reimagined- as an affirmation to its universality, our interdependency and mutuality.
Check out Dr. Chad Shomuraâs lecture for the Design Studies course, Cultures, where he talks about the emotional dimensions to making, creating, and being. @creativeinquiry@hellochadcatbuff.ly/3h66EUL
Iâve seen first-hand how much my fellow coursemates have poured into their thesis, and the heart and soul they have for the communities theyâve worked with. Itâs often mission-based, with so much of our personal values ingrained into the work.
Community-centred design and social innovation is a messy journey, navigating ambiguity, building trust and empowering relationships, while introspecting our positionality, power, and biases as designers in larger, complex systems.
Thereâs so much more behind what people know as âdesignâ beyond the industrialised concept.
Iâm so proud of us, come listen to our stories.
11.30pm SGT on YT live/ recording available after!
