It's the Birthday of Maurice Sendak
June 10, 1928 – May 8, 2012
–– that unforgettable illustrator and author of children's books. He wanted to help children deal with scary things. He is still relevant to us today, because WE ADULTS are still dealing with scary things.
Being an entrepreneur is SCARY. But––creating anything of value involves RISK. Entrepreneurs must be very, very BRAVE. Successful entrepreneurs take risks where other people do not.
Maurice loved Herman Melville. Here's what Maurice said on the risk of CREATING:
"Herman Melville said that artists have to take a dive & either you hit your head on a rock & you split your skull & you die. . . OR that blow to the head is so inspiring that you come back & do the best work that you ever did. But you have to take the dive, and you do not know what the results will be."
