Check out how she describes the ethnic cleansing of southern Lebanon.
From my understanding, Israel very much wants a peace deal with Lebanon, and Lebanon has a positive image in Israel, unlike the Syrian regime, which is presented as jihadist. The top priority is Hezbollah disarmament. If they can't get disarmament, they want a dead zone from which it's not possible to launch attacks at Israel. Even in the 2024 negotiations the IDF and border communities wanted a no-man zone. The 2024 deal, despite being lopsided in favor of Israel, polled negatively in Israel because of this absence of a dead-man zone.
At the end of the day, the US can force whatever it wants on Israel, even a withdrawal without such a dead zone, but the US admin itself wants Hezbollah disarmed... Trump forced the ceasefire in Gaza, which is an utter disaster for Netanyahu politically among his base. As long as fighting was ongoing, he could promise that "total victory" is around the corner. The moment it stops, he cannot. If Trump can force him to do that, he can force him to do anything in Lebanon. The existential angst and desire for revenge that Israelis feel toward Hamas are far stronger than toward Hizbollah because Hizbollah never crossed the border, despite years of planning.
