Tattoos existed in Africa long before colonialism. In many African societies, body markings, tattoos, and scarification carried cultural, social, spiritual, and even medicinal significance.
Have you ever stopped to ask why many of our elderly people carried these markings on their bodies?
Of course not.
That would require curiosity, historical awareness, and a willingness to learn. Instead, youβve chosen to dismiss your own heritage simply because it doesnβt fit the colonial lens through which youβve been taught to view the world.
