27/ The bottom line is that pay has been destroyed in the NHS whether measure of inflation is used. Ministers may gaslight that strikes are causing waiting lists, but they are not. Waiting lists are a #PoliticalCHOICE RT if you want this/next government to #FixPay #RETENTION

Loads of interest in silver trauma today! Topped off by a very interesting talk on the biomechanics of stairs and how illusions can help older people climb them safely by Dr Timmion Skervin @TraumaCareUK #gunsdontkillolderpeoplestairsdo

Listening to @drjtreml reminding us of the importance of the falls history in #traumacare. Without the fall there would be no trauma! @traumacare @elderlytrauma @delirious_dr

Thought provoking talk by @tucker_harriet on the questions of how to triage and who needs MTC care in the older injured population. So much is unknown. Specialist care vs proximity to nearest and dearest. @elderlytrauma

So great to meet my Major Trauma geriatrician colleagues again from all over the UK and Ireland. Awesome work coming out of Bristol on the effects of frailty on MT outcomes and the positive effects of geriatrician review. Wish I was there in person! @elderlytrauma @DrPhilipBraude

Hopefully this sad news is provoking discussions around the country about what we do want at the end of our lives - please tell your nearest and dearest, and better still write it down. As @DrSandyThomson said, what a woman!

As a Geriatrician and a fellow human, what an example of positive ageing & and what a way to go; at home, with family, comfortably, quickly and enjoying life up until your final days. What a woman.

@gmcuk is proposing that the primary ‘duty’ of a doctor should to ‘Be Kind’. Sounds nice right? Kind doctors are a good thing. A thread on why I think this is a problem, 1/

Wolf-whistling, taking photos, making comments, getting too close… Every woman and girl will recognise these experiences. A powerful new video is challenging men and boys to recognise these types of behaviours and ask themselves #IsThisOK

Consider spinal or neurogenic shock in a hypotensive patient with spinal injury - often ends up being seen by Med Reg and fluids are not the answer. #bgsconf

Very enlightened attitude of spinal surgeon Kevin Tsang - he avoids spinal braces as they lead to muscle wasting. @srftspines #BGSconf

Plus the need to look carefully ( yet timely) in deciding whether a TBI is devastating - is the damage parenchyma? #bgsconf
