So proud of @TeressaAbboud’s mural “let’s celebrate together” @refugecoffeeco bringing leaders to address the global challenge of immigration and refugees. This is great art for a cause!!
Great to visit @refugecoffeeco in Atlanta with Mayor @andreforatlanta. Refuge Coffee provides training and development for refugees and immigrants. After the #CitiesSummit, this is a great example of leaders coming together to solve global challenges at a local level.

Ummmmm hi @MerriamWebster , how do we update the DICTIONARY? The term #sickler is a dehumanizing slur and belongs nowhere in anyone’s vocabulary, certainly not the dictionary. Please remove this Better yet, if someone searches, it provides education about why it’s not a word

Why do we transition many people with SCD to adult care at age 18 even if they are not ready? Transition should be based on skills and readiness, not age. #sickle #transition

1/ I would love to be able to offer gene therapy to every person I see with #sicklecell. But right now I struggle to even offer approved medications, mental health care, enough time during a clinic visit. newyorker.com/science/annals…

#AUB alumnus @choucair at AUB North American Alumni Reunion states the there is a need to shift the way we are thinking of the strategy in dealing with COVID-19 and that efforts are still needed to continue to try and control COVID-19. @AUBAlumni

I am caring for more patients with #sicklecell admitted with #covid19 now than ever (highest number since the #pandemic started). The majority (75%) are not vaccinated. If you have #sicklecell or if you don’t please #GetVaccinated ASAP. Please!!

Thank you #ASH21 and @ifyosunkwomd for highlighting a too common problem. My patients and I have developed a plan that works for them but other providers refuse to follow it. This is unacceptable. Providers need to listen to people living with #sicklecell

#ASH21 review of the guidelines for treatment of #sicklecell. Patients in a pain crisis need to receive tailored treatment. This is why I work with my patients to develop a plan for what works best FOR THEM. If you want to know what works best for your patients, ask them!
