Final PhD-paper is now published in Bioinformatics. If you plan to genotype structural variants, then make sure to read our paper first. You will get fewer errors in your genotype calls and better genotype quality: academic.oup.com/bioinformat…
🧵1/5 Thought long-read sequencing had “solved” structural variant genotyping? We did. Turns out many SVs still have high genotype error rates with current tools. Our new method SVUPP uses long-read pre-phasing to reduce errors and improve genotype quality doi.org/10.1093/bioinformati…

We sequenced and analyzed the world's rarest large mammal, the #saola. That turned into a cool paper substantially increasing what we know about this elusive animal, its evolutionary history, population structure, and long-term decline. Check it out here: cell.com/cell/fulltext/S0092…

New paper from our group, led by @renzobalb, @LauraDBertola and @AnnaBruniche, and with multiple collaborators! "African bushpigs exhibit porous species boundaries and appeared in Madagascar concurrently with human arrival" 🐖🧬🌍⛵️
To start the new year off well, we got another paper published! 🎉🎉🎉 We explore the evolutionary history of African bushpigs and their mysterious presence on Madagascar. The study was a team effort, with multiple collaborators, and co-led by @renzobalb, @AnnaBruniche and me. 🧵

Happy to share a new preprint from the lab on ARGs, selection, and ancient DNA. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… We present CLUES2, a full-likelihood method that extends the work of Stern et al. 2019. Improvements include (1) the ability to use ARGs on ancient samples, allowing for 1/n

Historically, much of the gender gap in earnings could be explained by differences in education and occupational choices. However, this year’s economic sciences laureate Claudia Goldin has shown that the bulk of this earnings difference is now between men and women in the same occupation, and that it largely arises with the birth of the first child. #NobelPrize
