what is puzzling, or annoying, about the response to "Marty Supreme" is that early reviews made it seem as if the film is "Uncut Gems" "with a happy ending." nothing could be further from the emotional experience of the two films. "Uncut Gems" is brutal, raw, intransigent, with a most head-hammering percussive beat, & careens to a perfect ending; "Marty Supreme" glides to the softest of soft landings, & the tone throughout is affably comic. when the perpetually ultra-pregnant love interest drives a vehicle into a house crashing the veranda & precipitating a frantic sit-com scene in an episode already much too long, we know we are far from the mean streets of NYC's diamond district out in Boondocks, USA. no coming back from there.
