My Substack's stock ideas since inception have been like Shohei Ohtani going 13-for-14 with 3 grand slam homeruns. It won't last, but it's been fun so far! Ken Griffin says the best stock pickers are right just 54% of the time. $NVDA

Anthropic, OpenAI, and Nvidia are national treasures. How about the government not kneecap hard-won American technology leadership with strategically myopic export controls and instead let our best engineers cook? No more dumb policy moves, please.
Did anyone in U.S. government do any ramifications analysis and realize this move, where U.S. can shut down models on a whim, will incentivize all foreign countries/companies away from building on top of American models pushing them to use China? Gutting U.S. AI industry. Are we really this dumb? Reverse ASAP

The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

If you keep comparing your product to "missile silos" and nuclear weapons ... you're never gonna believe what happens next! 🤦‍♂️
Anthropic’s constant fear-based marketing strategy to generate attention, which transparently aims for regulatory capture ahead of its IPO, is getting tiresome. It will backfire for the entire U.S. AI industry. "We believe it would be good for the world to have the option to slow or temporarily pause frontier AI development to enable societal structures and alignment research to keep up with the advance of the technology." "Training runs are far easier to conceal than missile silos" "the world has built verification regimes for other complex technologies (e.g., the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty)" anthropic.com/institute/recu…

Yann agrees!
So livid right now. Anthropic overhyped Mythos, scared the living daylights out of clueless global politicians like Treasury Secretary Bessent and ECB President Christine Lagarde, and stoked a regulatory panic that may set back the entire AI industry

So anytime there’s a possible jailbreak, the U.S. government is going to ban access to a huge chunk of the smartest AI researchers in the world who are working here for us on green cards? Is our country this dumb? It’s like unilateral disarmament in the global AI race. "suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employee"

All to deceitfully generate hype for Anthropic into its IPO. Well, you did this to yourselves.

It backfired big time
Dario knows what he's doing. Fear-based marketing sadly works. The other sad part is that people including those in the media, don't call him out on the baloney because they're incentivized not to. And it's going to eventually backfire politically with the general public. Dumb moves all around.

I told you Anthropic’s doom marketing would backfire. I disagree with the U.S. government’s move, but Anthropic's management deserves some blame for the panic, hysteria and FUD they stoked.

Reaffirm.
I honestly wish Anthropic or OpenAI had gone out first. At least those two have growth rates that can justify the valuations. Bankers signing off on $1.75 trillion on these numbers is ridiculous.

"Everyone's making fun of these Koreans for being long memory stocks. But we're talking single-digit P/E multiples. It's probably going to last 2-3 more years. Triple digit growth." — @firstadopter "Layer that onto the fact that 4 years ago, all these memory companies saw their revenue get cut in half. So they didn't expand capacity. And it takes 3-4 years to expand capacity." "We're going to see mega pricing power. We haven't seen anything yet. These stocks are going to keep going higher, and their revenue rates are going to be astronomical." From his appearance on the show last month.
