@FirstTunnels I've had my First Tunnels poly since 2009 and in the years inside I've developed capsicum cultivars here in Wales that have become well known all over the world 🏴🌶️🫑
At last ! A couple of sunny, wind/rain free days.
Managed to get my new polytunnel up and running.
It wasn’t cheap and blooming hard work but well worth it.
It’s by @FirstTunnels ….quality item and excellent customer service when required.
With doune-knoydart.co.uk guests taking local walks today, there’s a whole team effort available on our @FirstTunnels construction. Big progress from @alicefoxartist Big Bob, Wee Bob and Andrew #selfsufficiency
After watching an @charlesdowding video on polytunnels I have just pressed the button on a 14x30 tunnel from @FirstTunnels Bit of preparation work over the next few days to get ready to build it. #GardeningTwitter#nodig#gyo
I’m sorted for stage 1 of constructing our new @FirstTunnels polytunnel to grow most of the produce we use in the restaurant at doune-knoydart.co.uk - comfy seat (doorstep) and tea. Something’s distracting me though!
Properly installed, a quality polytunnel is very robust and resilient. Storms that can demolish a greenhouse hardly disturb the polytunnel ow.ly/BFRH50Mx5e6
Next thing you know, you love your chickens more than your family 😆 Our kids decided to put up Christmas tree inside the polytunnel this year , just because we love our chickens😄 I know we are a weird family 🤣 Self sufficiency is the way to go!
We grabbed some old pavers for a path from ebay. Then planted in some soft fruits in 1/3 of the tunnel- peaches, nectarines, grapes etc. The rest of the polytunnel had soil added, with horse manure to mix over winter under the plastic wrapping to stop weeds.
Then onto the polytunnel.... Again, purchased last year before we moved, we put this up ourselves. It measures 60ft x 14ft – and took 3 weekends to put up. The majority of the work was in the underground pole foundations to stop it blowing away. The rest was fairly easy to put up
