Nikita told the court he only survived the attack because he fought back, and that the migrant only stopped once the blade broke off. During the attack, Nikita suffered five serious stab wounds, including a 15 cm wound to his head. He later told the German news outlet Express that the suspect was granted German citizenship despite the attack.
