To all those who are calling for Israel to show restraint (because the attack didn’t cause too much damage in Israel this time), aside from fundamentally misunderstanding the Middle East, I offer this analogy:
Imagine your kid is wearing bullet proof vest, and is shot in the area that is covered. Ok, the vest protected against that shot, thankfully, and the kid is fine.
Do you then say “ok, I’m gonna let my kid keep getting shot repeatedly”, or do you try finding a way to make sure your kid isn’t shot again (despite the fact they are wearing a bullet proof vest)??
Exactly. Don’t be silly and think that just because we have air defense systems, we should then accept a situation where they can be tested over and over and over.
The same thing applies to Gaza. Having iron done certainly helped limit rocket casualties on our side- but it allowed the source of the rocket firing to fester and balloon into what it became.
Let’s not make the same mistake now with Iran. We need to make sure they are too scared to ever test our air defenses again. (And hopefully there will be regime change there and peace again between Israel and the Iranian people 🙏)
