I'm a saas guy designing a wearable for the first time Hardware, sensors, embedded systems, completely out of my lane. Or is it? I've been using AI to just... learn it. Sure it won't be an award-wining product. But pet projects are fun, and so is making something new & "real"

Have recently been applying the "does this improve the world" lens to new business ideas TBH roughly 50% of my past/current projects don't pass the test, & won't get as much attention anymore The tricky thing is balancing "good quests" with a big mission, against the boostrapper ethos of shipping fast and monetizing early Its not easy, but I think it's possible. I think the key is to not mix up the original product with the wider mission. But more like, if I were to launch this product MVP this month, and then continue building on it for 5 more years, what is the positive impact on humanity I can have? I love the indie hacker community, but I do find most folks think small considering how much talent they have. $10k MRR is a good stepping stone, making money for yourself and your customers is necessary, but what's beyond that? Which founders do you know that have a clear mission & do good for the world? I'd love to have more examples to learn from

Couple caveats: 1. The AI giveth, and it taketh away 2. These pages have been live for years 3. Not so easy to copy this exact strategy Obviously ChatGPT is messing with their algo lately, I've noticed it on my other sites too But being cited in 1 in every 1000 chatgpt answers is crazy! 🀯 And yeah, @gummy_search signups are still closed. We'll see what happens on 11/30, either I'll close it for good or open it up and run for free if I can afford it. Wanted to sell the product/assets, but no buyers that are the right fit, so just maintaining the site for now, keeping the data fresh, and keeping customers happy if they bought before the payment cutoff.

Realizing prompt engineering isn't that important for controlling AI costs Pipeline architecture is: - cheaper models for low-stakes tasks - smaller inputs - smarter sync cadence the prompt is the last thing to optimize

Some folks have asked me if/why I stopped building in public. Last year I had to shut down a profitable SaaS, had my first exit (and worked at the acquirer for a bit), and welcomed my son into the world. A big year with many transitions. So I took a little break from building. It's been really nice to focus on family, health, and other sources of fulfillment. Sometimes I feel like I've been working nonstop since my first startup 13 years ago, so I'm glad I took the time. I knew when I'd come back, it would be with a newfound passion. Anyways, have been tinkering again these past few months, exploring what sticks and is fun to work on. Man, what an interesting time it is to build. I'm excited to share some new products with you all soon, stay tuned.

I used to think a good SaaS onboarding is about collecting data It's really all about creating useful artifacts, ensuring a good first-time user experience, and delivering value Most of the profile questions you'd ask can be figured out from the domain anyways

ok I've been informed by the kind community that llms.txt doesnt drive the needle much I've been making other SEO updates recently, so could be that But literally double chatgpt traffic with llms.txt change and SEO traffic growing modestly in the same period made me believe...
This is your sign to add llms.txt to your website ASAP

OK the new ad slots for @thehiveindex are LIVE Can place a text/image ad on any of the topic pages and communities listed on that topic. Pageviews estimate is dynamic and accurate Anyone want to guinea pig these ads before I publish access to the advertiser networks?

Someone needs to develop a peptide that makes you launch finished products instead of just starting a new one every week

SaaS is getting weird. There isn’t one "right" interface anymore, you probably need all 3: Dashboard: core everyday stuff, one click away Assistant: custom questions exploration API/MCP: for advanced users building on your data One product, different users, multiple ways in
